TEACH: Make a Positive Difference in Your Community!

Guilford Technical Community College has a rich tradition of meeting the needs of its community. The Guilford County School System must hire over 500 teachers each year. In response to the need for teachers, GTCC has committed to developing and offering programs in the area of teacher education through its Teacher Education Academy.

The purpose of the GTCC Teacher Education Academy is to help address the critical shortage of teachers in our county and surrounding areas by offering quality alternative teacher education programs in partnership with our county’s senior educational institutions. GTCC offers two routes for teacher education.

Through our Teacher Education Network, GTCC works closely with our six county partner senior education institutions to provide a seamless pathway for our Associate of Arts Education Pre-major students. Our articulation agreements/program plans outline the courses you need to take based on your level, your choice of transfer institution, and your choice of a concentration area. The courses outlined fulfill the requirements for the AA degree at GTCC and the transfer requirements for the senior institution. In addition, the courses outlined on these plans will help prepare you for successful completion of the Praxis I exam and your final two years of academic study.

GTCC can move you to the head of the classroom! Come see what GTCC can do for you! Contact the Teacher Education Academy at 336.334.4822 x 2491. The GTCC Teacher Education Academy office is located on the third floor of the Learning Resource Center, room 308.
